
Governments worldwide have recognized biotech as a new age technology that is anticipated to play a significant role in improving the quality of life, at large. One of the key drivers that have fostered the development of the biotech sector worldwide is the creation of life science parks, steered by the strong interest evinced by stakeholders including Government, industry, and educational Institutions.
Biotech Park is a visionary project launched by the Government of Madhya Pradesh. It will be a place where educators, researchers and business class come together as collaborative partners for the upliftment of science and technology entrepreneurship in Central India. To pragmatize this grandiose project, an in- house team of Biotech Consortium India Limited (BCIL), New Delhi prepared the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for setting up the Park.
The state of Madhya Pradesh is endowed with rich biological resources and rich biodiversity making it an exclusive destination for developing a Biotech park. The proposed Biotech Park at village ‘Cheerakhan’, Tehsil Pithampur in Indore will be the first of its kind in the Central India with a cluster of Life sciences industry, research Institutions, sci-tech academia and other scientific amenities.
Spread over an area of approximately 181 acres, the Biotech Park will provide a world-class infrastructure for lifesciences research and manufacturing, commercialization of new technologies thereby mentoring the challenges in biotechnology investments.
The Biotech Park is conceptualized under Public Private Partnership (PPP) Model where M/S. Deloitte Touche Tohmatsu India Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai has been appointed as the Transactional Advisor for feasibility study, structuring & marketing and preparation of Bid documents including RFQ and RFP for selection of Private entrepreneur for the project.
The state government will provide land for the park as equity in Joint Venture Company and arrange quality water, road and electricity supply upto the gate of the park. The cost of development and management will be borne by the private partner (Developer).

Madhya Pradesh has 11 agro-climatic zones with a forest area of about 31% rich in medicinal plants and variable soil-strata resulting in large floral, faunal and microbial biodiversity. The state has inherent strengths in the fields of organic farming, horticulture, animal husbandry.
The State also has a large number of quality Universities like Barkatullah University, Bhopal; Jiwaji University, Gwalior; Jawaharlal Nehru Krishi Vishwavidyalaya and Rani Durgawati Vishwavidyalaya, Jabalpur; Dr. Harisingh Gour Vishwavidyalaya, Sagar; Devi Ahilya Vishwavidyalaya, Indore producing adequately trained human resource in the area of Biotechnology.
